چکیده

The application of the diffusion Monte Carlo method to a strongly interacting Fermi system as normal liquid 3 He is explored. We show that the fixed-node method together with the released-node technique and a systematic method to analytically improve the nodal surface constitute an efficient strategy to improve the calculation up to a desired accuracy. This methodology shows un-ambiguously that backflow correlations, when properly optimized, are enough to generate an equation of state of liquid 3 He in excellent agreement with experimental data from equilibrium up to freezing.

Diffusion Monte Carlo Study of Two-dimensional Liquid 4 He Typeset Using Revt E X 1

The ground-state properties of two-dimensional liquid 4 He at zero temperature are studied by means of a quadratic diffusion Monte Carlo method. As interatomic potential we use a revised version of the HFDHE2 Aziz potential which is expected to give a better description of the interaction between helium atoms. The equation of state is determined with great accuracy over a wide range of densitie...

Shell Model Monte Carlo Calculations for 170 Dy Typeset Using Revt E X 1

We present the first auxiliary field Monte Carlo calculations for a rare earth nucleus, 170 Dy. A pairing plus quadrupole Hamiltonian is used to demonstrate the physical properties that can be studied in this region. We calculate various static observables for both uncranked and cranked systems and show how the shape distribution evolves with temperature. We also introduce a discretization of t...

A Proposal of a Renormalization Group Transformation for Lattice Field Theories Typeset Using Revt E X

We propose a new Real Space Renormalization Group transformation useful for Monte Carlo calculations in theories with global or local symmetries. From relaxation arguments we deene the block-spin transformation with two tunable free parameters, adapted to the system's action. Varying them it is possible to place the xed point very close to the simulation point. We show how the method works in a...

Typeset Using Revt E X 1

We present a simple, sophisticated method to capture renormalization group flow in Monte Carlo simulation, which provides important information of critical phenomena. We applied the method to D = 3, 4 lattice φ 4 model and obtained renormalization flow diagram which well reproduces theoretically predicted behavior of continuum φ 4 model. We also show that the method can be easily applied to muc...

A Monte Carlo study of temperature-programmed desorption spectra with attractive lateral interactions. Abstract We present results of a Monte Carlo study of temperature-programmed des-orption in a model system with attractive lateral interactions. It is shown that even for weak interactions there are large shifts of the peak maximum temperatures with initial coverage. The system has a transitio...
